Credit: Treasury | In a few hours' time, the waiting and speculation will finally end when Rachel Reeves stands at the Commons dispatch box to reveal her plans for the nation's finances. It's been 14 years since Labour last delivered a Budget and this is the first time a woman will have raised the red box on Downing Street. The chancellor will pledge to put more pounds in people's pockets and last night announced a rise in the minimum wage to £12.21 an hour. But she's also warned of "difficult decisions" - about £40bn of tax increases and spending cuts are expected. As our political editor Chris Mason writes, what happens today will set the political landscape for the years to come. | | | | | | | | |
