 Image: Reuters Day of mourning after gunman kills 14 in Prague Vigils have been held in Prague overnight after 14 people were killed and 25 injured when a gunman opened fire at a university. The attack at Charles University in the Czech capital was the country's worst-ever mass shooting. Police say the gunman was a 24-year-old student at the university who had been "eliminated". He is believed to have also killed his father and may be linked to the deaths of two people last week. Police are still trying to find out why he opened fire at the university. Dramatic footage emerged of people jumping to safety from an outside ledge of a building, trying to stay out of sight. Saturday has been declared a national day of mourning. | | | | | | | | | |

"Uni sniper rampage" headlines the Metro, as it reports more than a dozen deaths in the Czech capital. The Guardian's lead story reports a rise in hospital admissions relating to malnutrition. Several newspapers report on Thursday’s travel disruption and what knock-on effects it could have today. The Sun leads with its interview of British teenager Alex Batty, who has returned to the UK after going missing six years ago.
