Better known as the Elgin Marbles, they've been on display in the British Museum since the 19th Century, but pressure has been growing for the ancient artefacts to be returned to Greece. At the weekend, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said having some of the treasures in London - and others in Athens - was like cutting the Mona Lisa in half. He was due to meet Rishi Sunak today in London, but No 10 cancelled the meeting at the last minute. A government source told the BBC that Downing Street believed they had assurances from the Greek government that they would not raise the subject of the Elgin Marbles in public during the visit. | | | | | | | | |

The Guardian notes the UN secretary general has hailed the extension as a "glimpse of hope". The Times focuses on warnings from Hamas that it will demand a "higher price" from Israel to set soldiers free. Closer to home, a number of front pages are concerned with the economy.
