That number will soon rise when the government introduces a ban on the American bully XL breed after a spate of recent attacks. Courts can allow illegal dogs to stay with their owners as long as the pets don't pose a danger to the public and they're kept under strict rules. Tom and Casey in Middlesbrough are training their XL puppy Zuma in the hope that he'll be assessed as safe. "I trust him with my life," says Tom. "He's a wonderful dog.
