Credit: Getty Images Tributes pour in for 'radical and incredible' Sinéad O'Connor With her elfin features and skinhead look, Sinéad O'Connor was instantly recognisable the world over. A beautiful voice and a rebel's heart were her other trademarks. The Irish singer, who has died at the age of 56, is best known for her song Nothing Compares 2 U and for ripping up a picture of Pope John Paul II on US television. The tributes have been flowing and glowing, but also not shying away from the controversy and her personal demons, rather like the singer herself. Singer Alison Moyet paid tribute to O'Connor's "astounding presence" and voice that "cracked stone with force by increment". British band Massive Attack said: “The fire in her eyes made you understand that her activism was a soulful reflex and not a political gesture." | | | | | | | | | | |
