| Discover what makes a BSV-powered dictionary different Hello Denawa,
For John 'Jack' Pitts, co-founder of SLictionary, the responsibility of defining what a word means lies with those who speak it: 'the real keepers of the English lexicon have never changed, it has always been the [English-speaking] people,' he tells Charles Miller in this episode of CoinGeek Conversations.
SLictionary has approximately 2,000 definitions as of this writing, all coming from the BSV community. However, Jack wants to reach a broader audience, especially those who love inventing words.
To attract such users, SLictionary has several unique features over your standard online dictionary, including: - The 'celebrity auction' that allows users to own and monetise definitions created by an individual who invented the word or is considered an expert on the subject
- Users can go for 'word bounties', where 'Word Barons' pay you for providing definitions of a word
- An immersive and entertaining multimedia dictionary experience
Jack adds that blockchain technology allows SLictionary to document the evolution of a word based on how people view it over time. 'The English language is fluid, and it's going to suffer from all kinds of changes', Jack says, adding that the blockchain can help preserve these meanings for posterity.
