The french government is facing a historic crisis after opposition parties ousted prime minister Michel Barnier in a no-confidence vote on Wednesday. Image: Reuters The French government has collapsed after Prime Minister Michel Barnier was ousted in a no-confidence vote on Wednesday evening, becoming the shortest-serving French prime minister in modern history. MPs voted overwhelmingly in support of the motion against him - just three months after his appointment by President Macron. Opposition parties had tabled the motion to remove him after he controversially used special powers to force through his budget without a vote. It is the first time the country's government has collapsed in a no-confidence vote since 1962, and is likely to further France's current political instability. The attacker fled the scene without taking any of Thompson's belongings, and police believe he was targeted in a pre-planned killing. Image: US Fish and Wildlife Service The world's oldest known wild bird has laid an egg at the approximate age of 74, according to US biologists. 'Wisdom', a Laysan albatross, was filmed at a national wildlife refuge in the Pacific Ocean, looking after the egg alongside her latest partner. She is believed to have had more than 30 chicks in her lifetime, and to have outlived at least three mates. Read Wisdom's story
