'You're not my King' - Australian senator heckles Charles | | | | The King was heckled after a speech to politicians. Credit: PA Media | | As he finished his address to the Australian parliament in Canberra, King Charles walked away from the lectern and Lidia Thorpe seized her moment . "This is not your land, you are not my King," shouted the independent Indigenous senator, who's known for her opposition to the monarchy. She was escorted away by security as shocked lawmakers and dignitaries looked on. The interruption to the ceremony in the Australian capital came on the second official day of the King's tour of the country. For decades, Australia has been debating whether to break away from the monarchy. But the country's PM Anthony Albanese - himself a republican - has ruled out another vote on the issue any time soon. | | | | | | | | | | |
